So last night I took The Queen out for a night of spoken word at Homebase Poetry at The Parsons Center for Health and Wellness. It was just that...Health and Wellness. I've always been intrigued by the way poets express themselves on stage. I can tell that the issues facing our nation weighed heavily on the minds of some of the artists. They covered a wide range from politics to #99 (you had to be there). The headlining poet is a dear friend to both myself and The Queen, WisdomSOUL. We were delighted to be in the front row watching our friend make her triumphant return to poetry. Her pieces "I am Poetry, Chaotic and I Cried on the Mic" were just as powerful as any piece that she has ever done before. And it was an extra special blessing to watch her mother sing "Summertime" following her own performance. George Gershwin not Will Smith.
